YOUNG EUROPEAN CITIZENS II

A multilateral project promoting European awareness and citizenship

If you are born after January 1, 1976, live in an EU, EEA or associated country and want to join other young people of different nationalities in a project to promote European unity all around Europe, you can apply to this EVS project.

We are looking for people with an interest in European affairs, interested in working on projects connected to European unity and European citizenship, in a young and active environment. We expect you to have good language skills, a good motivation and the will to spend one year in
Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Rome, Strasbourg, Tallinn or Vienna. The service will beginn on October 15, 2001 and end on October 15, 2002 (including an initial training week in Strasbourg).

The project "Young European Citizens II" aims at increasing the awareness of young Europeans across the Union and the candidate states of sharing a common citizenship and having the same possibilities in influencing their own future. Considering the important challenges the European Union is facing we think that an active European civil society is indispensable for the acceptance of the European idea by its citizens. Our project wants to encourage young people to act as multipliers in informing citizens (especially young ones) on EU matters and increasing their European awareness.

Our project also wants to strengthen the links of European civil society organisations, such as JEF, UEF and the European Movement with other organisations and the local communities. You will be involved in the organisation of events, conferences, seminars, public information stands,
debates and other public actions.

- Participation in our EVS project is free of charge.
- Accommodation and meals will be provided by your hosting organisation (that is the local office of European Movement, JEF, UEF or other institution hosting you) either as such or through sufficient corresponding money.
- In addition, you will receive pocket money per month as follows:
Tallin -             105 Euro
Athens -          140 Euro
Rome -           160 Euro
Brussels -       160 Euro
Vienna -          175 Euro
Berlin -            175 Euro
